It primarily explores for copper, molybdenum, zinc, silver, gold, and lead ores in Mexico, Peru, and Chile. The company also engages in the mining of coal; and copper extraction, smelting, and refining operations. In addition, it provides general railroad freight and intermodal services; and other auxiliary services that include passenger transport, intra-terminal pulling, and automotive terminal services, as well as offers terminal services comprising the loading and unloading of goods and overland transportation. Further, the company provides construction and engineering services for public and private infrastructure projects, including hydroelectric and storage dams, highways, thermoelectric plants, railroad projects, mining projects, manufacturing plants, petrochemical plants, and housing projects, as well as offers administrative and personnel services. Additionally, it provides oil well drilling and maintenance, cementation engineering, and directional drilling services; and drills water wells for the mining industry in Mexico. The company was founded in 1942 and is headquartered in Mexico City, Mexico.
