The company?s Coal segment mines and sells thermal coal primarily for use as fuel to generate electricity. This segment operates nine surface mines in Alberta and Saskatchewan, Canada. Its Oil and Gas segment engages in the exploration and development of oil and gas properties in Cuba, Spain, and Pakistan. The company?s Power segment operates integrated gas treatment and power generation facilities located in Varadero, Boca de Jaruco, and Puerto Escondido oil fields in Cuba, as well as owns an electricity generating plant in Madagascar. Sherritt International Corporation also involves in metallurgical technology and mineral products businesses. The company was founded in 1995 and is headquartered in Toronto, Canada.
